Wow. The Inductees into the 2018 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame have been announced. And for once, I can wholeheartedly agree with every one of their choices!
Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits and The Moody Blues all seem like natural choices to me. I can't imagine anyone arguing against those. I have never thought of Nina Simone as a Rock & Roll performer. But anything to help promote her career as both an amazing singer and an early pioneer in civil rights protest music is ok by me.
The nomination that makes me the happiest is the Sister Rosetta Tharpe. She was one of those early black blues players that evolved the blues and gospel into that secular, energetic, showy sound that was later named rock & roll.
Here's some of the few videos of her that still exist.

"Up Above My Head"
"Down By The Riveride"
